First, red foliage variety with an umbrella shaped, weeping habit. Small tree with overhanging shoots. Compared to the species characterized by slower rate of growth. The height of the tree depends on the height of rootstocks, on which the plants are grafted, usually no more than 2-2.5 m. The leaves are fairly broad, heart-shaped at the base, sharpened at the tip, dark purple in the spring, almost black. They become lighter over time. Lamina surface is slightly serrated. In summer, young leaves are purple-red, while old leaves turn red-green. Flowers and fruits not observed. The variety is tolerant in terms of the substrate, frost resistant, zone 5a. Grows best and most colorful in full sun. Because of the small size, it is recommended for small home gardens.
