Betula nigra ‘Summer Cascade’ is a weeping Birch (or River Birch) with gently weeping pendulous branches and pink peeling bark. It is a good alternative to Betula pendula Youngii with the extra features of peeling bark and good autumn colour. Betula nigra ‘Summer Cascade’ prefers moist soil, and is ideal for planting near rivers and ponds but it will also perform in less moist soils so is a small to medium sized tree great feature tree for any garden.
